Álvaro Soler (born 9 January 1991 in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Catalonia) is a Spanish-German singer-songwriter who grew up partly in Tokyo and later settled in Berlin. He broke through across Europe in 2015 with "El mismo sol" and cemented his status a year later with "Sofia", which reached number one in Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium and Switzerland. With four studio albums and over 150 gold and platinum awards worldwide, he ranks among the most commercially successful Latin pop acts on the continent.
