Rocky Votolato (born March 8, 1977, Dallas, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter based in Seattle, whose folk- and alt-country-rooted solo work grew out of his time fronting the Pacific Northwest punk band Waxwing in the late 1990s. His 2006 Barsuk Records album Makers - spare, guitar-driven, and deeply personal - is widely regarded as his defining statement, while 2022's Wild Roots marked his return after a seven-year hiatus. In 2025 he launched a new electric band, Suzzallo, whose debut album The Quiet Year channels grief into fuzzed-out alternative rock.
