Rostam Batmanglij, performing as Rostam, is an American musician, producer, and songwriter of Iranian descent, born in Washington D.C. in 1983. He co-founded Vampire Weekend and produced the band's first three albums, including the Grammy-winning Modern Vampires of the City. As a solo artist and in-demand producer, he has shaped records for Frank Ocean, Clairo, Solange, and HAIM, while releasing three solo albums - Half-Light (2017), Changephobia (2021), and American Stories (2026) - that weave together indie pop, folk, and his Persian heritage.
Rostam released his third solo album American Stories on May 15, 2026, via his own label Matsor Projects.
Rostam announced the American Stories album and a 2026 world tour spanning North America and Europe, with European dates in September.
