Sigur Rós - The Orchestral Tour
Icelandic band Sigur Rós presents a spectacular orchestral version of their compositions.
Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1994, built around vocalist and guitarist Jónsi Birgisson, whose soaring falsetto and bowed guitar became the group's sonic signature. Their 1999 breakthrough Ágætis byrjun brought them international acclaim, and over nearly three decades they have sold close to ten million albums worldwide - without a conventional hit single or a Grammy - singing mostly in Icelandic and in their own invented language, Vonlenska. The 2023 album Átta, recorded partly at Abbey Road with the London Contemporary Orchestra, marked the return of multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson and launched a two-year global orchestral tour that became one of the most ambitious live projects of their career.
Sigur Rós announced the final leg of their world orchestral tour, running from Edinburgh (Aug 31) through Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal, closing with two Berlin shows on September 20-21, 2026.
Sigur Rós released a 20th anniversary reissue of Takk..., remastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, including two previously unreleased tracks ('Melrakki' and 'Elfur') from the original recording sessions.
Sigur Rós announced four dates at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the London Contemporary Orchestra.
Sigur Rós released Átta, their eighth studio album and first in ten years, recorded at Abbey Road with the London Contemporary Orchestra, marking the return of multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson.
