About

Yann Tiersen is a French composer and multi-instrumentalist from Brittany, born in Brest in 1970, whose work spans minimalist piano, electronics, post-rock and chamber music. He reached global audiences through his score for Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 2001 film Amélie - which earned him a César Award and a BAFTA nomination - though he had been releasing studio albums since 1995. Over the following decades he continued to evolve, moving from whimsical acoustic miniatures toward electronics-driven and politically charged work, most recently on his 2025 double album Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour.
