Shrunk to the size of a thumb, Nils Holgersson finds himself on the back of Martin, an escaped domestic goose - traveling with a flock of wild geese toward Lapland. But the animals regard him with suspicion, for he is human, and who knows what humans might do! Nils must prove himself: against the dangers of the journey, against the cunning fox Smirre who pursues the group, and against the image the animals (not without reason) have formed of him. High in the clouds, through rain and wind, over fields, forests and cities - the group led by the stern goose Akka continues its flight, and Nils grows beyond himself, perhaps even returning to his original size. The children's book "The Wonderful Journey of Little Nils Holgersson with the Wild Geese" by Nobel Prize-winning author Selma Lagerlöf tells a tale of new friendships and perspectives, of the relationship between humans and nature, and of the courage to change.
