The Greco-Roman world of myth is one of the deepest roots of European culture - a shared reservoir of images, figures and stories that continues to shape art and thought. This programme does not narrate it but transforms it into sound: in Debussy's "Faun", the boundary between reality and imagination dissolves into a haze of light, heat and desire. Ravel responds with elegance and brilliance - first in the playfully virtuosic Piano Concerto, then in "Daphnis et Chloé", where ancient love myths are bathed in luminous orchestral colour.
