The evening juxtaposes two figures that have profoundly shaped European thought: Faust, who relentlessly pursues knowledge, and Don Quixote, who steadfastly believes in his ideals. As part of the "New Myths" programme, Josep Pons traces Faust's wanderings between desire and damnation through works by Schumann, Liszt, Wagner and Berlioz - before Strauss's "Don Quixote" places the power of imagination at the centre.
