East Africa - Multivision Show with Achim Landwehr
Stadthalle Korntal, Korntal-Münchingen, Germany

A dream. A journey.
East Africa is the ultimate destination for travel journalist Achim Landwehr. After his very first trip, the "Africa bug" bit him hard - and six more expeditions followed.
Riding a Yamaha XT Ténéré along dusty tracks, he heads into the land of the Maasai. The border region between Kenya and Tanzania is one of the last areas in all of Africa where the largest land animal on Earth can still roam freely between Tsavo, Amboseli and the Masai Mara. In Kimana, we have a date with a dance: Maasai warriors in their finest robes leap as if in a trance, competing to jump the highest.
For someone from Gerlingen, following the footsteps of missionary Johannes Rebmann in East Africa feels almost obligatory. He was the first European to discover the snow-capped Kilimanjaro. A memorial stone in Machame, Tanzania, honours his legacy.
A Toyota Land Cruiser carries us along muddy tracks into the endless grasslands of the Serengeti in Tanzania - a landscape made world-famous by Dr. Bernhard Grzimek's Oscar-winning classic "Serengeti Shall Not Die". It is home to what is likely the largest lion population in all of Africa. After so much dust and adventure, the journey ends on the white sands of Turtle Beach Road in Watamu.
