When Heinrich Del Core takes the stage in his red shoes and tells stories from his everyday life, you want to shout: "No way! That never happened - he made it all up!" But every single one of these situations, which have us laughing in disbelief, actually happened to him. Heinrich Del Core is a magnet for bizarre everyday moments, which he then delivers with an irresistibly funny charm.
And now the moment has arrived: Heinrich is becoming a grandpa. Or to put it another way - his wife is becoming a grandma!
The new situation turns everything upside down. Overnight, Del Core's world is a different place. He buys a pram that costs as much as a moped once did - or a Thermomix today. He downloads baby apps for his wife and bakes a "Mutterkuchen" for family coffee gatherings. Then there's a wedding to attend - eco-friendly and vegan, naturally. But it's hard to feel festive when you're supposed to throw unpeeled wholegrain rice at the happy couple.
Grandparenthood does solve a few old problems, though. Take the bedroom: how many nights of good sleep were ruined by the wife's cold feet, the endless battle over the duvet, or a husband who rivals a leaf blower in both volume and airflow. When the grandchild comes to visit on weekends, Heinrich simply has to move out.
His self-confidence takes a hit, of course. And doesn't "grandpa" sound terribly old? He still feels young at heart - except in the mornings when he gets up. That's when his joints sometimes make noises. But his wife always lifts his spirits: "Heinrich, you're really quite something". She seems to be handling the whole thing much better anyway. She says: "Being a grandma is like being a mum - only nicer". She never worried about getting older. Once she left the kids a note: "Gone to the cemetery". And Heinrich added underneath: "But we'll be back".
Despite all the changes...
