#32 Opening of the 40th International Master Course for String Players

For this anniversary master course we have invited a special guest: Prof. AXEL STRAUSS, who has taken over the direction of the course, will perform on stage himself - playing Bach's celebrated Violin Concerto in E major BWV 1042 and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in D minor MWV O3. The occasion stirs memories for more than just him: in 1989 he won first prize in the third age group at the very first International Violin Competition at Kloster Schöntal. He is now a professor at McGill University in Montreal, and we are especially glad to hear him play in this anniversary season.

We also look forward to the young talents of the CONCERTINO ENSEMBLE and their fresh interpretations. Tonight's programme is rounded out by Edvard Grieg's Suite op. 40 "From Holberg's Time".
