The Little Witch

Our big Christmas fairy tale - a play based on the book by Otfried Preussler

The little witch has one wish above all others: to dance on the Brocken with the other witches on Walpurgis Night. But she is still too young, and so this pleasure is denied to her.

Despite the warnings of her best friend, the raven Abraxas, she decides to fly to the Brocken in secret. She is caught immediately and sent by Mume Rumpumpel to the Head Witch. As punishment for breaking the rules, the little witch's broomstick is burned and she has to walk home.

She strikes a deal with the Head Witch, though: if she becomes a good witch by the next Walpurgis Night, she will be allowed to join the dancing from then on. Back home, the little witch wants to take revenge on Mume Rumpumpel for betraying her. But Abraxas reminds her of their agreement - good witches must not do anything wicked! And so the little witch does her very best from that moment on to always do the right thing...
