Water play, nature and the joy of the forest run through this programme as a single thread. Fabian Müller - among his prizes, a winner at the International ARD Music Competition - opens the evening with piano works centred on the theme of water, setting the stage for Schubert's celebrated "Trout Quintet". The evocative Kloster Michaelstein in Blankenburg, surrounded by fish ponds and streams, gives the programme a direct connection to the landscape outside. Schubert's quintet carries that spirit further - trees rustling, water rippling, music drifting through the clearings like birdsong.
