Manuel Rubey and Simon Schwarz are, between them, all thumbs. At least four left hands' worth. Yet the two friends think opening a restaurant is a brilliant idea. Simon once played a chef in a film, and Manuel enjoys a good glass of wine. Surely that's enough. Their upscale establishment in the middle of nowhere is supposed to outshine everything that came before it - though up close it looks more like a prime candidate for a TV show about botched construction jobs.

When the restaurant then burns down, the smell of arson hangs in the air. At least that's how the village police officer leading the investigation sees it. For her, the case is open and shut: it was Rubey, he torched the place.

Because the murderer is always the gardener, maybe - but the arsonist is always the Viennese.
