CARA - Celtic Folk — Alte Turnhalle, Leutershausen

CARA is a multinational Celtic Folk band, twice awarded the Irish Music Awards. The musicians enjoy an excellent reputation for their innovative arrangements, original compositions and songwriting, virtuoso performances, and charismatic stage presence.

The band creates its own distinctive sound, with the voices of two lead singers, Gudrun Walther and Kim Edgar, at the centre. The repertoire spans dreamy ballads, archaic Gaelic mouth music, and original songs with contemporary social and political themes. Songs alternate with fast-paced instrumental pieces that thrive on the virtuoso interplay of fiddle and Irish pipes (Uilleann Pipes). The Irish bagpipes, elevated to UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017, are played by Simon Pfisterer, who studied this extraordinary instrument at the University of Limerick. Gudrun Walther's elegant and expressive fiddle playing is highly praised by the specialist press both at home and abroad. What makes CARA particularly special is the interplay between guitar and piano, as well as the band's distinctive, rhythmically and harmonically rich arrangements. These bear the signature of Jürgen Treyz, guitarist, producer, and the band's musical mastermind.

From opening to encore, CARA creates highlights at every concert, not least through the compelling solos contributed by each band member, and surprises the audience with ever-new sounds. Rounded off by charming and humorous presentation, an evening with CARA guarantees the highest musical enjoyment and excellent entertainment. Tours and enthusiastically received concerts in the USA, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, France, Benelux, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland testify to the band's success story.
