Transit Casablanca
St. Ursula-Realschule, Dorsten, Germany
A stage play based on the film by Michael Curtiz
Casablanca - a city where hope and despair sit side by side. In this North Moroccan metropolis, during the Second World War, all those waiting for a visa to escape to safety beyond Europe find themselves stranded. For most of them, there is nothing to do but wait. To pass the time, locals, refugees and soldiers from opposing sides of the conflict gather at "Rick's Café", a luxurious nightclub.
The charming yet elusive owner, Richard - known as Rick - handles the needs of his varied guests with cool composure. Then a song plays, and he is instantly thrown back into his past. His great love stands before him. The reunion with Ilsa, who once left him behind in Paris, cuts him to the core. But Ilsa has not come alone - her husband Victor is with her. Rick now faces a question: should he help the couple escape from Casablanca? Only a miracle can get them out - and that miracle happens to be two transit visas that Rick holds in his hands...
