The Limburg Abbey ruin stands on a basalt hill above Bad Dürkheim, the remains of an 11th-century Salian imperial monastery. The church was one of the largest Romanesque buildings in the region before it fell into ruin after the Thirty Years' War. Today the open-air site hosts concerts and cultural events against a backdrop of medieval stonework.
