Perdition. A Story of Lasovian Women - RELATIONS XI

"Perdition. A Story of Lasovian Women" is a theatrical performance presented as part of the XI Intergenerational Theatre Meetings RELATIONS. The script, inspired by the book "Women. A Story of Our Grandmothers," draws on the research of Lasovian heritage scholars - Stanisław Bąk, Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski, Dyzma Gałaj, Franciszek Kotula, Krzysztof Ruszl, Józef Sudoł, and Barbara Tryfan. From peasant diaries, folk songs, prayers, and ethnographic sources emerges a multi-layered narrative about women's experience - of grandmothers and great-grandmothers living in a world of hard labor, social constraints, and unspoken emotions. The title "perdition" carries two meanings: one can lose oneself in dance and joy, but one can also - as many women in the recent past - be condemned to ruin.

On stage, professional actors meet with residents of the region. They are accompanied by the Lasovian Song and Dance Ensemble named after Ignacy Wachowiak, and live music is performed by the Dziki Bez band.
