31st Theatre Confrontations: Spy from the Land of the Deaf — Cultural Centre in Lublin, Lublin
Description was written before the event

A documentary theatre essay treating communication as a political structure rather than a neutral exchange of information. The performance is based on movement, Polish Sign Language (PJM), phonetic language, and sound and visual composition - instead of representing the experience of deaf people, it challenges the assumptions of the hearing world. Hearing is presented here not as a universal state, but as one of many cultural perspectives.

The libretto is inspired by the story of Marek Śmietana, a deaf PJM lecturer and performer, and excerpts from Anna Goc's book "Deafness". The performance combines experimental choreography, visual dramaturgy, and multilingual structure.
