Alva Noto is the stage name of German sound and visual artist Carsten Nicolai (b. 1965). He works at the intersection of minimalist electronic music and conceptual art, combining audio with visual elements. He is perhaps best known for his collaborative album series "Vrioon" with Ryuichi Sakamoto.
