Amy Macdonald (born 25 August 1987 in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow) is a Scottish singer-songwriter whose 2007 debut album This Is the Life went to number one in four European countries and sold three million copies. She has since released six studio albums and sold over 12 million records worldwide, building a particularly loyal following in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Her contralto voice blends folk, rock and indie-pop, and she has performed live to more than five million people across the world.
Amy Macdonald's sixth studio album Is This What You've Been Waiting For? was released on 11 July 2025 via BMG/Infectious Records, debuting at number one in Scotland and number eight in the UK.
The title-track lead single premiered on BBC Radio 2 on 24 April 2025 - Macdonald's first new release since 2021.
Macdonald performed a surprise free pop-up gig at Prince's Square in Glasgow on 25 April 2025 to mark the single and album announcement.
Macdonald completed a 13-date UK and Ireland headline tour in November-December 2025, closing with a show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro.
Her February 2026 German tour dates - including Munich, Berlin and Leipzig - sold out almost entirely before the year ended.
