Babyshambles are a London indie rock band founded in 2003 by Pete Doherty - then on a forced hiatus from The Libertines - alongside guitarist Patrick Walden, bassist Drew McConnell and drummer Adam Ficek. Their three studio albums, Down in Albion (2005), Shotter's Nation (2007) and Sequel to the Prequel (2013), placed them at the centre of the British indie rock scene of the 2000s, with singles such as "Fuck Forever" reaching #4 on the UK Singles Chart. After more than a decade apart, the band reunited for a UK tour in late 2025 to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut.
Original guitarist Patrick Walden died on 20 June 2025, aged 46; the band confirmed his death in a statement shared on social media.
Babyshambles added extra UK dates to their 2025 reunion tour after tickets sold out rapidly, with shows in London (O2 Academy Brixton), Glasgow, Bristol and more.
The band confirmed their first live shows since 2014, with Pete Doherty citing both the death of Patrick Walden and years of sobriety as key reasons the reunion became possible.
Band members reunited on stage during a Pete Doherty solo show in Watford on 21 March 2025, after which Doherty announced a Babyshambles tour at a Newcastle show two days later.
Pete Doherty told NME in December 2024 that a Babyshambles reunion tour to mark the 20th anniversary of Down in Albion was "on the cards".
