Hiromi Uehara (born 1979 in Hamamatsu, Japan), who performs simply as Hiromi, is a jazz pianist and composer whose playing spans post-bop, progressive rock, classical and fusion. Mentored by Ahmad Jamal at Berklee College of Music, she debuted on Telarc in 2003 with Another Mind and has since built a global following across more than 14 leader albums. Her accolades include a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album (for The Stanley Clarke Band, 2011) and a No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart with Spark; in 2021 she performed at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.
Hiromi is scheduled to perform 'The Piano Quintet' with PUBLIQuartet at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York in August 2026, followed by European dates with the Metropole Orkest in September 2026.
Hiromi's Sonicwonder completed a European autumn tour in November 2025, with stops in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, France and the UK.
Hiromi released 'Out There', the second album by her quartet Hiromi's Sonicwonder, on 4 April 2025 via Telarc/Concord.
Hiromi performed at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. on 8 November 2024, where she also played on George Gershwin's piano.
Hiromi served as music director for the animated film Blue Giant, which won the Japan Academy Award for Best Music.
