Pixies are an American alternative rock band from Boston, formed in 1986 by Black Francis and Joey Santiago. Their albums Surfer Rosa (1988) and Doolittle (1989) helped define the sound of 1990s alternative rock - the quiet-loud dynamic they pioneered directly influenced Kurt Cobain and countless others. After breaking up in 1993, the band reunited in 2004 and has continued recording and touring; their 2024 album The Night The Zombies Came, released via BMG with new bassist Emma Richardson, marks another chapter in one of rock's most enduring careers.
