About

The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band from Oklahoma City, active since 1983 and led throughout by frontman Wayne Coyne. Their music spans garage punk, noise pop, and lush experimental rock - a range that earned them three Grammy Awards and a devoted global following. The 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, certified gold in the US, remains their commercial and critical peak, though records like The Soft Bulletin (1999) and Embryonic (2009) are equally revered. Live, the band is in a category of its own: confetti cannons, giant balloons, and Coyne crowd-surfing inside a man-sized plastic bubble have made their shows a spectacle unlike anything else in rock.
