About

Sylvan is a German neo-progressive rock band from Hamburg, active since the early 1990s and known for ambitious concept albums that blend melodic art rock with symphonic and progressive metal elements. The quintet - built around vocalist Marco Glühmann, keyboardist Volker Söhl and drummer Matthias Harder - has released ten studio albums and toured internationally alongside acts such as Porcupine Tree, Marillion and Jethro Tull. Their 2006 double release Posthumous Silence, a harrowing concept album about a father discovering his daughter's diary, remains the band's most celebrated work. The 2021 tenth album One to Zero, a concept piece about artificial intelligence, was widely praised as a return to form.
