Vio-lence is an American thrash metal band formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area, widely regarded as one of the key acts of the second wave of Bay Area thrash. Their classic lineup - Sean Killian on vocals, Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn on guitars, Deen Dell on bass, and Perry Strickland on drums - recorded three studio albums between 1988 and 1993, of which the debut 'Eternal Nightmare' (1988) and 'Oppressing the Masses' (1990) became genre touchstones. After splitting in 1994 and a brief reunion in 2001-2003, the band returned full-time in 2019 and released the EP 'Let the World Burn' (2022) via Metal Blade Records - their first new material in nearly 30 years.
Vio-lence announced a new touring lineup for their 2025 European 'Oppressing the Masses' anniversary tour, with guitarist Max Georgiev, bassist Jeff Salgado, drummer Nick Souza, and returning guitarist Ira Black joining vocalist Sean Killian.
