Herbert Steffny - biologist, bestselling author, and one of Germany's most successful marathon runners - speaks about training and competitive running. His sporting achievements include a bronze medal at the 1986 European Marathon Championships, 16 German national titles, and podium finishes at the New York and Frankfurt marathons. As a personal trainer, TV commentator, and author of Das große Laufbuch, he has been among the most recognized running experts in German-speaking countries for many years.
The approximately 2.5-hour lecture is aimed at both beginner runners and ambitious competitive athletes. Topics include the fundamentals of endurance training (training zones, heart rate, performance diagnostics), training planning and race preparation, race tactics, and optimal nutrition. The lecture concludes with an open question-and-answer session.
