What makes us who we are? Inspired by Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling", Laurie Cannac and Andy Scott Ngoua tell a story of transformation, exclusion and self-discovery. In a poetic blend of puppet theatre, dance and Visual Vernacular, using puppets, projections, a transformable stage and live music, dreamlike images emerge between doubt, longing and new beginnings.

"La Langue des Cygnes / Die Sprache der Schwäne" was created through a collaboration of deaf and hearing artists. The performance text was developed in French sign language, which here unfolds its poetic quality and expressive richness. In the projected performance of deaf performer Karine Feuillebois and integrated into the choreographic body language, it creates a stage language equally accessible to deaf and hearing audiences.

Post-show discussion

Following the performance, we invite you to a discussion with the artistic team, moderated by cultural scholar Sebastian Köthe. The discussion will take place in English spoken language and will be interpreted into German sign language. Audience questions can be asked in German sign language, English or German spoken language.

Accessibility

A DGS interpreter is present before and after the performance on site to support visitors if needed. Post-show discussion in English spoken language with interpretation into DGS.
