PAN TADEUSZ

"PAN TADEUSZ takes place in our heads. I approached this work as our Bible, which is in our hands, in our hearts, or in our heads. I also took seriously the statements of politicians who say that we don't actually live in our own country yet. In this slogan I heard our Polish hell: on one hand it sounds absurd, on the other - there is much truth in it. Isn't it the case that to this day we remain on the border of two worlds - the real and the imagined?

The unreal is closer to us. In the real world, we need to get to work - that doesn't come as easily to us. In the unreal world, a thrown slogan is enough to transport us to an ideal existence, where only those who are not with us are evil. We often choose this very path. And the abuse of the spiritual sphere - which is closer to us - can easily transform into a pathological state.

We are preparing a spectacle built from scenes with not only dramatic tension but also comedy, not avoiding poetic fragments. In this Polish crucible, I hope, we will laugh quite a bit. If we looked at ourselves only seriously... No. Laughter is something that forgives, that grants absolution." (Mikołaj Grabowski)
