Right to Choose

In this production, the titular right to choose belongs to the audience - they will decide the fate of the main character, played by Aleksander Machalica. The play is the Polish premiere of Ferdinand von Schirach's drama, already popular in European theatres and on television.

On stage, seven actresses embody experts questioned before the Ethics Commission: Maria Rybarczyk, Daniela Popławska, Małgorzata Łodej-Stachowiak, Bożena Borowska-Kropielnicka, Antonina Choroszy, Agnieszka Różańska and Marta Herman. Their arguments - ethical, medical and theological - become bargaining chips in a dispute over freedom, the right to life and dignified death. Dilemmas concerning euthanasia and the withdrawal of palliative care are increasingly entering Polish public debate, and the play gives each audience member the opportunity to anonymously express their position on these issues.
