About

De Staat is a Dutch alternative rock band from Nijmegen, formed in 2006 and fronted by singer, guitarist and producer Torre Florim. Their sound resists easy labelling - industrial grooves, heavy riffs, funk rhythms and experimental electronics collide within the same song, often wrapped in sharp social commentary. The band has headlined major festivals including Glastonbury, Lowlands and Sziget, and toured as support for the Rolling Stones, Muse and Biffy Clyro. Awards include multiple Edison and 3FM prizes, and a Bernays Lifetime Achievement Award.
