Grendel is a Dutch electro-industrial and EBM band founded in 1997 by JD Tucker (VLRK), taking their name from the monster in the Old English epic Beowulf. Signed early to the German label NoiTekk, they built a following across Europe and North America through relentless touring and a string of club-defining releases - most notably the 2007 album Harsh Generation, which topped alternative charts in Germany, the Netherlands and beyond. Over six studio albums the band has steadily evolved from harsh aggrotech roots toward a more guitar-driven industrial rock sound, as heard on their latest record Ascending The Abyss (2019).
Grendel completed a 25th Anniversary UK tour in January 2026, their first UK dates in six years, supported by Freakangel and Antibody.
In 2025 the band returned to the studio to work on new material and a retrospective album marking 25 years in the scene.
Grendel performed at Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2025 in Leipzig in June 2025.
Grendel played a show in Hannover, Germany at Subkultur in September 2024.
Grendel appeared at the Dark Malta Festival 2024 in April 2024.
