Kid Creole & The Coconuts is a New York group founded in 1980 by August Darnell. Their sound blends funk, salsa, Caribbean rhythms and pop into a style that stood apart from everything else in the early 80s. The album Tropical Gangsters (1982) and the single "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy" brought them their biggest recognition.
