Latin Quarter - Acoustic
Konzerthaus Liebfrauen Wernigerode, Germany
30 €
Latin Quarter first gained fame in the 1980s with hits like "Radio Africa", "New Millionaires" and "America for Beginners" from the album "Modern Times". Critics praised the album highly, with the New York Post calling it "one of the most exquisite electro-rock albums ever released in England".
In Germany, Latin Quarter enjoyed particular success, touring regularly throughout the country and appearing in many television programmes, including Rockpalast and Extratour. In 1987, they were invited to perform at "Rock für den Frieden" in East Berlin, and later that same year they completed a tour of five concerts through the former East Germany. The band released six albums before disbanding in 1997.
However, in 2012 the band reunited and has been more productive than ever since. Over the last 13 years they have released eight studio albums and one live album, naturally promoting them with numerous concerts. In 2023 they celebrated their 40th anniversary with another German tour. This tour took place with a fully electric band, to which original guitarist Richard Wright returned.
In contrast, in 2024 long-standing members Steve Skaith, Steve Jeffries and Mary Carewe joined forces with cellist Anna Carewe to form an acoustic quartet. They recorded the album "I Together", followed by an extremely successful tour through Germany, Switzerland and Britain.
This acoustic lineup was originally planned as a one-off project, but the response to the album and live performances was so positive that the band decided to continue as a quartet.
Whether as an acoustic quartet or as a fully electric band, Latin Quarter's music has always combined melodic sounds with socially critical lyrics. The new album they are currently working on will be no different.
