This production was staged to commemorate the year of Aleksander Fredro, directed by Waldemar Śmigasiewicz. Fredro's comedy about the dispute between Cześnik and Rejent is not only a classic of situational comedy and wordplay, but also one of the most critical works about Polishness — mocking national vices and weaknesses, and still relevant today.
Śmigasiewicz's staging offers a contemporary interpretation of this Romantic comedy: it tells the story of the conflict between Cześnik and Rejent, while satirizing the times we live in.
