Deafheaven is an American blackgaze band formed in San Francisco in 2010 by vocalist George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy. They built their reputation by fusing black metal aggression with shoegaze atmosphere and post-rock dynamics - a sound critics quickly labelled 'blackgaze'. Their 2013 album Sunbather became a landmark of the decade, and their sixth record Lonely People with Power (2025) earned them Consequence's Heavy Band of the Year title.
Consequence named Deafheaven their Heavy Band of the Year 2025, and frontman George Clarke confirmed new music and extensive touring are planned for 2026.
Deafheaven announced a fall 2025 U.S. headlining tour running from September 11 in Chattanooga, TN through October 12 in Lexington, KY, with Harm's Way and I Promised The World as support.
Deafheaven released their sixth studio album Lonely People with Power on March 28, 2025 via Roadrunner Records, their first release on the label after signing in 2024.
Deafheaven announced a spring 2025 North American headlining tour in support of Lonely People with Power, with Gatecreeper and Trauma Ray as support acts.
