About

Midnight is an American black/speed metal project from Cleveland, Ohio, founded in 2003 by Jamie Walters under the stage name Athenar. The sound draws heavily on first-wave black metal, Motörhead-style punk-metal and raw speed metal - a blend the underground has tagged "black n' roll". Walters writes, records and plays all instruments alone in the studio, while live shows feature a rotating cast of masked musicians. Signed to Metal Blade Records since 2019, the band has released seven studio albums, most recently Hellish Expectations (2024) and the Ohio-covers collection Steel, Rust and Disgust (2025).
