About

The Bad Plus is an American jazz group founded in Minneapolis in 2000 by bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King, originally alongside pianist Ethan Iverson. They built their reputation by treating rock and pop songs - from Nirvana to Aphex Twin - with the same seriousness as jazz originals, reaching audiences well beyond traditional jazz circles. Since 2021 the band has operated as a piano-less quartet with guitarist Ben Monder and saxophonist Chris Speed, releasing two albums in this configuration. In January 2026 Anderson and King announced that 2026 will be the group's final year.
