Marc Haeberlin

Michelin-starred Alsatian chef Marc Haeberlin from the restaurant Auberge de l'Ill is a guest in the TÊTE À TÊTE series at Kulturforum Illenau.

Marc Haeberlin represents the fourth generation of chefs at the "Auberge de l'Ill" in Illhaeusern. After graduating from the hotel school in Strasbourg, he trained under Paul Bocuse, Jean and Pierre Troisgros, René Lasserre, and Gaston Lenôtre before joining his father and uncle at "Auberge de l'Ill" in 1976. Since 2001 he has been a Knight of the "Ordre National du Mérite", since 2007 a Knight of the "Légion d'Honneur", and since October 2001 the first chairman of "Grandes Tables du Monde".

Auberge de l'Ill is regarded as the birthplace of not only French but also German haute cuisine - it is where an entire generation of chefs, including Eckart Witzigmann, Hans Haas, and Otto Fehrenbacher, trained before bringing Germany onto the world's culinary map.
