Walpurgisnacht

MDR-Rundfunkchor and MDR-Sinfonieorchester perform in Jena on Saturday, 22 August 2026, at Volkshaus Jena. Under the direction of Josep Vila i Casañas, the ensemble presents Haydn's symphony "La chasse" and Mendelssohn's cantata "Die erste Walpurgisnacht" with soloists Ulrike Schneider (alto), Patrick Grahl (tenor), and Daniel Ochoa (baritone). This is one of nine German dates on the choir's tour, which also includes stops in Freiberg, Halberstadt, Suhl, and Leipzig this season. The concert begins at 18:00; admission is 25 euros.
